Neilson Tower
Neilson Illinois


Neilson Tower was built in 1911 by the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad. The tower housed a 24 lever Saxby and Farmer interlocking machine. The plant was all mechanical with the exception of the distant signals becoming electrified after 1911. In March 1989 the plant was replaced the closed. A hole was dug near the tower the tower pushed into it and burried. Located in Neilson, Illinois it was a junction between the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad and the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. In 1911 the interlocking was as follows:
