HN Cabin
Washington Park, Illinois
HN Cabin was built by the B&O Railroad in 1917. It originally had a 48 lever Saxby and Farmer mechanical interlocking machine. In the 1970's the mechanical lever bed and all the rods and switches were removed and replaced with a US&S CTC style control machine. HN Cabin was a 2 story tower but B&O referred to their towers as cabins. The area around the cabin was Hanover Illinois, the population was mainly Germans. During World War I the town of Hanover was changed to Washington Park but the name of HN stayed with the tower. The tower as of 4/2009 still remains to be one of the few manned towers in the St. Louis area. Any information you want to add please email me.
