Project 0725, Building a Dwarf CPL
Gathering Materials-
I had bought a good base, back, and top light for a future CPL and finally found a body for it. This one is being built for a small scale railroad near where I live.
Plan
The plan was to remove all the lamps and clean everything. After that we would sand it down and paint the body. I would then clean all the light assemblies and paint them. The major thing was to get a good coat of paint on the signal.
After picking up the dwarf Jim had also sold me a bucket of lens and lens rings. This is most of the lens removed and taken a part. Lots of spare green lens.
Heres the messed up base and the new parts around it, I know it looks bad but it wont once new hoods and lens are installed.
Heres the body as I got it, messed up lens and hoods. I have all the new ones inside.
Heres all my dowarf parts, most is all taken apart and to body is completly free of any lights. Only two more light assemblies to remove and sand.
Heres all the parts sanded and ready for paint.
Heres the parts painted twice, one primer and then a first coat.
Heres the main body after being painted.
We added the gaskets to the top for the top marker.
Heres the main body, base, and top marker installed.
Heres the first light unit installed. note we are using two of the same lens instead of the front lens being the 20 degree reflector. This is because we are installing this on a small railroad.
Heres the main light units installed except for the markers.
Heres the main body with the light units installed and the top marker with the light unit installed. Since then the bottom one was installed and with the 20 degree lens because it is so low to the ground.
Heres the back painted with the second coat, finally found a ALUM paint that will hold up in the weather.
