Project 0723, Siding Control Box
Gathering Materials-
RR Bill and I traded a panel for a old control box. I had never seen the control box and didn't know what it was comming with. It was just the other day when the control box came to our house. When I opened it I was surprised to see the box had 4 3-way levers and 1 2-way lever. The top had twent connections and luckly the top was not the normal Union Switch and Signal quick swap top so they were all nuts and bolts.
Plan
The plan was to take out the bottom 2-way lever out and replace it with a Union Switch and Signal push button.
Operation-
The top 2 levers will control the normal and reverse of the switches and the lower two levers will be for the west and east bound signals.
Final-
The control box has been rewired and the push button has been installed. The controol box will sit till the siding is being built.

Here is the front of the box with the buttom lever still installed. Looks like when the railroad used it, they only used the left side of the control box.
Here is the top of the box with all the wire connections, these have been moved and some have been changed.
Here is the wires and connections on the inside of the box. I have since removed all of them and resoldered them to different connections and different levers.
Here is a close up of the wires that went to one of the top levers.
Here is the back of the two lever without the contacts, this is part of the process of installing the levers.
Here is the contacts that goes on the back of the lever, for switch levers we removed the center group of contacts.
After removing the wires and cleaning the contacts, I have started to solder all the new wires.
Here is the name plate and the push button.
Heres the box finished and ready to go. The wires are connected to the correct top terminals and all pings out well.
